In the Netherlands there is an organization called the Donkey Farm Foundation. One of the donkeys named “Bram” had a serious medical condition and was in failing health. “Bram” was treated badly by his previous owner and was rescued and protected by this facility. There are other donkeys residing there who have also suffered from similar circumstances as “Bram” did and many of them enjoyed the company of the other animals for their first time in their lives! Unfortunately, “Bram’s condition worsened and he suddenly succumbed to lung disease one day while outside with the other donkeys.

Here are the other donkeys gathering around the body of their companion and friend “Bram”.

The founder of the Animal Farm Foundation says that donkeys are animals that behave as a group so when one of their members passes away, the entire collective mourns at the same time.

The ashes of “Bram” were buried under a large oak tree o grounds of the facility so he would not feel lonely and be close to his friends and companions.

The founder of the facility also commented that the donkey’s cries represented an expression of sorrow for their deceased friend which can be clearly heard while watching the video.
