Although it looks quite surprising, a male lion jumped up into a tree to avoid attack from a large herd of water buffalo shown in the photo below. This image has unexpectedly become a huge hit online with my viewers globally since it displayed unexpected cowardly behaviour from “the king of beasts.”

A lion has been isolated and surrounded by a large group of water buffalo intent on attacking and potentially killing the big cat. As a last recourse, the lion has clambered up a solitary tree to escape the sharp horns and deadly hooves of the buffalo herd. Lions rarely climb up trees unless it is an extreme emergency!

As the buffalo circle the tree, the lion holds on for dear life and waits. What would you do in this situation?

Later on, when the buffalo lose their focus, the lion makes his escape and dashes away from the scene at high speed without looking back. It was a lucky escape for the “king of beasts”.

The lion continues to run for a long time to put as much distance as possible from the herd of water buffalo.

In this episode, the hunter became the hunted and narrowly escaped serious injury or death. It highlights just how tough it is to survive and live in the wild.
