The Awesome Power of Nature is Captured on Video of a Volcanic Eruption in the Kuril Islands!!!

During June 2009, the International Space Station (ISS) passed over the Kuril Islands from an altitude of 220 miles (354 kilometers) above the earth. Some amazing images of the Sarychev Peak (Fu Yozan in Japanese) right after a large volcanic eruption took place revealed the spectacular power of nature!

Here is the spectacular video and images of the eruption which was taken with a Nikon D2XS SLR Camera equipped with a 400mm lens by personnel on board the International Space Station (ISS). Please take a look and enjoy this awesome video below.

The volcanic plume of the eruption reached up into the atmosphere at least 8 kilometers from the surface of the earth revealing revealing both the beauty and violent power of nature at the same time!
