Here is a flying remote controlled drone machine that looks like a butterfly that has been developed with a specific purpose in mind and this device has become a huge topic of discussion with online viewers from all around the world!

This drone was created by industrial designer named Anna Haldewang of the Savanna Art Institute of Technology in the state of Georgia in the United States of America. This design is awaiting its patent and is driven by a small engine and propeller with a distinctive black and yellow coloration and shape!

The recent decrease of honeybees in the world.

According to scientists, there is a serious problem related to the future of agricultural crops on Earth behind the development of this drone. Simply put, there is a serious concern about the dramatic “decrease of the number of honeybees all over the world”. So why does the decrease in the number of honeybees affect the production of vegetables and fruits?

Honeybees play a major role in the pollination of fruits of vegetable crops around the world.
Honeybees play an important role in the growth of fruits and vegetables that we consume on a daily basis around the world. Bees create honey by pollinating flowers but also pollinate various fruits and other types of agricultural plant crops all over the world.

According to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) Secretary-General Ahim Steiner, “of the 100 crop species that make up 90% of the world’s food, 70% are bee-pollinated.” As reported in 2011, bees are very important to humans as well as for the overall health of plants and trees throughout the world.

For example, apples, watermelons, eggplants, almonds, asparagus, blackberries, broccoli, cabbage, cacao, carrots, etc. are crops pollinated by honeybees. It is said that the number of these bees has decreased due to mass death in recent years or by the destruction of their nests in the wild. In addition, it is also been attributed to the use of “neo-nicotinoid pesticides”.

This drone performs the same mating behavior as bees.

The drones are named “Plan Bee” are were developed in view of such a situation. Flowers would be recognized by a built-in camera. After that, the drone would suck up the pollen from the flowers, then head towards another flower and drop the pollen. In other words, this drone that can do the same key function of pollination as a honeybee!

What did you think?

This unique drone is currently in the development stage and is aiming for practical application in the field within the next two years and I hope that it will be able to apply its innovative technology towards helping global agriculture and attracts bees to pollinate valuable crops that help sustain people everywhere!
