A “robot monkey installed with a camera” malfunctioned and died in front of a trope of wild monkeys who reacted to the death with since remorse and heartfelt sadness reserved for one of their own group which became a big topic of discussion with online viewers worldwide!

These images were captured by the production team while filming an episode of BBC’s animal documentary program “Spy in the Wild”. In order to investigate the ecology of a species of wild monkey in India, a robot monkey was devised and equipped with a camera to film without disturbing or damaging the monkey’s natural habitat.

A member of the production staff commented that the entire group of monkeys were visibly stunned when the robot monkey malfunctioned and dropped to the ground. The barking sounds of the monkeys stopped and the primates began hugging one another. “It was a very touching scene”.
