This incident occurred off the coast of California in Monterey Bay while a number of people in kayaks were whale-watching.

Tourists participating in whale-watching tours have become popular recently and can be surprisingly close to the giant mammals! As you can see, this kayak carrying two tourists appears to be in grave danger as the giant whale leaps out of the water!
