On March 20, 2015, a total solar eclipse occurred over continental Europe and amazed viewers with a spectacular sight that is a truly rare occurrence!
A Total solar eclipse is a unique phenomenon that viewers from Europe to the Middle East had the opportunity to see and experience. The following photo shows a “diamond ring” spectacle as the moon passes directly in front of the sun.
While many people enjoyed seeing the eclipse, it also had the effect of reducing the amount of sunlight and electricity generated by solar power in many places in France and Germany. In fact, many areas attempted to decrease power consumption prior to the eclipse to negate the effects of the eclipse.
