The Quills of a Porcupine are Amazing!

There are more than 20 species of porcupines and almost all of them are covered with needle-like quills that are designed to discourage predators from attacking them. The Africa Maned Porcupine’s quills (shown above) are nearly 30 centimeters long.

These quills are very long and can be released leaving the attacker full of these tiny sharp spears which are very painful.

This porcupine’s defensive posture with its sharp quills is quite amazing to see!
