A young dog was rescued from an abusive owner just over a year ago by an animal safety organization in the state of South Carolina in the United States. Some new images featuring the dog’s recovery was recently posted on various social media networks (SNS) and became a big topic of discussion with online viewers from all around the world.

What is the horrific abuse that occurred with this dog in the past can be clearly shown in some of the horrific images below.

The mouth was closed with tape to prevent barking.

The name of this female dog is “Caitlin” and local police were able to rescue the animal after residents reported the abuse. Here is a photograph taken at the time that “Caitlin” was rescued from her abusive owner in May 2015 when the dog was just 15 months old.

The tape was wrapped around the dog’s mouth so tightly that dog wasn’t able to eat and significant damage occurred with the canine’s tongue and mouth along with severe infection after spending nearly 40 hours this way.

The culprit was a man named William Dodson who was 42 years old and the owner of “Caitlin”. A five-year sentence sentence (the greatest possible punishment for this particular crime) was given for the crime of animal cruelty. It is said that he began abusing the animal because “the dog was always barking and was noisy”.

Protected by the Animal Society and a gradual recovery.

“Caitlin” received laser therapy shortly after being rescued and was placed with the Charleston Animal Society where she continues to receive treatment and rehabilitation for her injuries. The dog’s medical expenses has been paid for by public donations to the association.

Here is a recent photograph of “Caitlin” as the dog continues to recover!

What did you think?

“Caitlin” is still recovering from this abuse as a part of the dog’s tongue had been torn which still makes eating difficult. Traces of the tape that bound the dog’s mouth is still also visible. According to a statement issued by the Charleston Animal Society, this dog is gradually recovering from anxiety and stress of its ordeal and it is hoped that this dog will be adopted and experience a happy life in the future.
