Finnish Lapland is an area in northern Finland which is above the Arctic Circle and is known as “the world of fairy tales”!

Here are a number of fantastic photos of Finnish Lapland featuring snow covered landscapes and spectacular night scenes of the Aurora Borealis or “northern lights”. These photographs were taken by photographer local photographer named “Tiina Tormanen” who was born and raised in Lapland.

Lapland is an area that covers northern Finland’s Kola Peninsula and is the traditional home of the “Sammi” people. It is said that the lights of the aurora can be seen up to 200 nights in a year! Lapland is considered the best location in the world to see the vivid colors and dramatic movements of this brilliant light show!

The photographer, Ms. Tormanen has commented that the special beauty of Lapland is something that cannot be replaced and though she lived in the capital city of Helsinki for over a decade, she has since returned to Lapland and will remain for the rest of her life.
