“I closed my small stationery store in Kyoto”.
With that message in Yahoo! Auction, (exhibition at ¥ 100,000 start) the stationery store products remaining inventory was exhibited for liquidation. However, the background of this small shop closure stimulated a lot of attention and discussion as the human element in this situation was a heartfelt story.
Located in the “product description” section of the Yahoo! Auctions website, was a short profile that revealed some intimate details of this small stationery shop.
I started the stationery store with my mother when I was a college student. At that time, business was good and a lot of children visited to look at and buy our products. The shop helped rejuvenate my father who enjoyed working at this shop. Now, business has become slower every year and my mother is unable to continue working there and I was too busy working at different locations and could not help out like I used to. My company just went out of business last year so I made the decision to close the shop and use the proceeds to help pay the cost of my mother’s placement in a nursing home. ll items in the store

Media Focus and Many Online Comments from Viewers.
These small shops elicited a lot of nostalgia among viewers online and there was also a sense of sadness about the owner’s business and family condition of his elderly mother that many people are also experiencing in Japan.
There are such a variety of factors that are the trend of the times but I feel the loneliness is that also these shops would disappear is still a sad situation as there are so many small shops that may be closing down all over the country due to the same set of circumstances.
