It is this a race movie? Believe it or not, this is not Hollywood but an actual race in the Hakone resort area south of Tokyo. And, the actual race track is the public highway….

The car magazine “Motor Head” organized this flash and drift race which is held on the “Hakone Turnpike” which is part of the public road system with the approval of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport for the first time ever in Japan.

Was Just Like Directing a Race Movie.

A video of this road race was shot just a an actual movie would be all along the Hakone Turnpike. The Video Production team had to pay the money at the toll booth during the racing event.

Fully Open Drifting of 100m on the Ground!!

Cars taking part in the race were able to achieve “fully open drifting” of 100m on the Ground at speeds of 215 kmh on the cherry bridge located in the middle of the Hakone Turnpike shown here in this photo.

Unlike a regular circuit race format, the fact that the above race was held on a public highway was a powerful and surprising feature of the movie. Perhaps there will be more races like this performed in different areas of Japan in the future.
