A fire extinguisher is not always available when a fire suddenly occurs and powder or foam extinguishing agents are not always able to completely stop a fire from expanding from its original source.

Two engineering students from Virginia George Mason University have invented a revolutionary approach to extinguish fires using low-frequency sound waves!

Here is a photo of Seth Robertson and Viet Tran who developed a prototype portable fire extinguisher using this innovative technology. Their device is able to stop a fire at its source using sound waves and is initially priced at around USD $600.00.

Here is a demonstration of the portable extinguisher putting out the fire in a frying pan.

George Mason University has their research up to now and is also helping the students process the patent application for their new invention. Their portable fire extinguisher is expected to go on sale at some point in the near future.
