Here is dog called “Derby” who was born with disabilities to both of her front legs. This dog was severely hampered in her ability to move around so the creation of “prosthetic legs” from a 3D printer has now allowed this pet to enjoy a newfound freedom to run around as shown in the image above.

Here is a photo of “Derby” moving around in an older version of wheels which supported her front legs. The customized wheelchair allowed the pooch to move around but was limited in terms of mobility. With the help of people familiar with “Derby’s” condition, a new “type of prosthetic legs” was designed from scratch using the innovative technology of 3D printer technology.

These new prosthetic legs were made to measure so that they fit the dog snugly but without the irritation to the deformed legs of “Derby”.

The company which created the new prosthetic legs came from a company called “3D Systems” and one of the company members accompanied the dog on a test run to see if these new legs worked properly. Here is an image of the happy looking dog running down the street!

Derby’s owner was astounded when he saw his dog actually running around with the new prosthetic legs. The dog is now able to walk or run up to 5 kilometers every day.
