The “kitty care program” is an initiative that allows elderly people living in nursing homes to take care of small undernourished and underweight kittens that have been abandoned or separated without knowing the affection of their parents!

The kittens were all under a weight of 200 grams of less and are nurtured by the elderly people so that the tiny cats will be encouraged to eat while being being cared for by these seniors who enjoy the companionship of these animals!

It seems that the health and weight of the kittens have increased gradually as well as having a positive effect on the mental and physical health of the elderly people charged with the care of these kittens!

Sharon Mercer, one of the staff at the nursing home commented that,

It may seem strange to let elderly people who need nursing care take care of kittens but elderly people have feelings and various abilities that provide love and affection to these animals and helps to stave off conditions of dementia.
